You can be as relaxed as you wish.
I have used Versed frequently on kids where the parents do not wish N2O
sedation ($$) or Tx under GA. The dosage I use is 0.3-0.5 mg per kg body weight up to 10 mg, 1/2 hour preop, NPO 6 hour. In Nova Scotia the only formulation I can get is the injectible solution, so I simply tell the parents to mix it with fruit juice. The stuff apparently is quite bitter , so mix with lots of juice. Incidently, this is the preop mixture that the kids receive before I treat them under GA at our local hospital. It works quite well...much better than that Atarax we were told to us in dental school!Todd Dakin
