Dr. O'Keefe has used Magnifying loupes of progressively greater power, now up to 6X and Fiber optic headlights in ever increasing power and brightness to enhance vision for examination, technical and laboratory procedures for more than 25 years. The Microscope is a very welcome and natural progression over many enhancements used in the past.
You have probably used microscopes in your studies, work, or seen them used by others . Microscopes are part of everyday life in some aspects of Medicine , many manufacturing processes and even leisure. Microscopes are required to perform certain procedures in medicine.
Think of a hunter using modern rifles without scopes. They are even legal on primitive weapons. The military, astronomers, the computer industry and so many different business could not operate without magnification.
I and those that work with magnification, microscopes included, believe that this at least makes it possible to see even what the healthy naked eye cannot see. Care can be administered more precisely with enhanced appearance, health, and healing. It is possible that postoperative pain can be diminished. Of course, all of this depends on the skill, caring, education, and motivation of the Dentist, and many other factors including the situation the patient brings to the operation.
With the Microscope, we can see early signs of Wear & Tear, worn spots, cracks, cavities, lesions, ect. and treat them B-4 you become aware of discomfort, sensitivity, pain, and breaking of teeth, gum, bone, joint problems, and headaches, ect. Cavities can be detected earlier and treated in the kindest, minimal way possible.
We believe that every tiny bit of tooth, gums, and all of you and your tissues are very precious and with the Microscope, we will attempt to preserve these even better than we have in the past. All of our treatment will be as conservative as the situation and our skills will allow.
