Ususally the reason patients do not get numb is because of their tendency to have an acid system. It sounds contrary to what we know but I have found that having them off coffee, soft drinks and anything acid for 8 hours before appointment will help. I also have them take 6 Tums the night before their appointment, 4 Tums the morning of their appointment and 2 Tums an hour before their appointment. With this protocol, I have patients get numb fast when their history has been to never get numb. This has been the case with many, many patients. Try it and let me know your results.
