Dear Laura, I am glad to answer your questions. 1. - The % of sodium hypochlorite i use both in vital and necrotic cases is 5%. 2. - The time is never less than 30 minutes. That means that, for istance, if I am working on an upper molar (which means 4 canals), I schedule my patient for a two hour appointment just for cleaning and shaping, or if we want to be more precise, for shaping and cleaning: we know that with rotary instrumentation the canal is shaped in a few minutes, but the irrigants need more time, so we first shape and then we let the irrigants clean the root canal. So, going back to our patient, the first root canal I am working on (the palatal) will be irrigated for one and half hour, while the MB2 will be "only" for half an hour. According to the literature, this should be enough. 3, 4 - The solution I use is warm, 50°C, which is about 120°F. For this purpose, I use a very cheap "coffee cup warmer", the same that in USA is used to keep warm the brown liquid that the American call "coffee"! 5.- As a final irrigation, after alternating NaOCl and EDTA 17%, after a final irrigation for 5 minutes with EDTA, I neutralize the EDTA with NaOCl and then, in order to have a root canal absolutely dry before the obturation, I irrigate with ethyl alcohol 96% and dry the canal with paper points and air (very very low pressure) with the Stropko irrigator. This is something I learned from John Stropko and from Gary Carr. Thank s for your interest and best regards.
